about our pottery studio 陶芸教室について

it has been soooo long since the last time i had thrown. because we had moved a little far from the studio, i had not been able to go back since we moved in may.
after about 2 hours of driving, i was really glad to see the same old studio; still so warm,
beautiful and refreshing.
最後の陶芸に行ってから随分経ってしまいました。五月に教室から少し離れたところに引っ越して以来、ずっと行けてませんでしたが、今日、約2時間ほど運転して、今までと変わらない暖かく、素敵で、清清しい、いつもの教室に着きました。
our studio is in the woods of hachioji.
教室は八王子の山の中。
it is a studio run by our sensei, who is a pottery artist himself (visit his website). i had
found this studio 5 years ago, and the first time i visited, i was totally in love with the
place, his works, sensei and his wife, tomoko-san, and the people who came here.
ここの教室は陶芸家である私達の先生の工房にある。 (HPはこちら). この教室を5年ほど前に見つけ、一目見てこの場所、先生の作品、先生と奥様のともこさん、そしてここに来ている皆さんが大好きになりました。
not only throwing clay, the environment surrounded by nature always gives us soo much fun. in spring, when the sansai's
(mountain herbs) start sprouting, we go
into the woods to pick them and cook
fresh tempura's. we also tried digging
some takenoko (bamboo shoots) and we all went for a walk in a small hill to view
some sakura's in full bloom. in early
summer, salamanders, designated as
protected species, lay their eggs in our
small pond every year, and we also saw some natural fireflies flying at night. i'll never forget how we watched a cicada (we named him "semitaro") shedding its skin and flying into an early morning summer sky, while we were firing our works. in the sutumn, we go picking
some mountain chestnuts which are so sweet and tastey.
陶芸だけでなく、自然に囲まれたこの場所はいつも色々な楽しみを与えてくれます。春、山菜が芽を出す頃には山に入って山菜を摘んで天ぷらを揚げたり、竹の子探しに出掛けたり、皆で満開の桜を見に行ったり。初夏には天然記念物に指定されているサンショウウオが毎年裏の小さな池に卵を産み、夜には野生の蛍を見に行ったり。窯焚きをしている時にセミ(せみ太郎と名付けた)の脱皮から早朝の夏の空に飛び立つまでを皆で見ていたのもとても印象に残ってます。秋には甘くて美味しい山栗を拾いににも行ったなぁ。
we also have many different activities like going sketching, making tea ceremony tea
spoons with bamboo, felt making, bacon making, grilling fresh sanma's over charcoal, etc
etc. this place is just sooo much fun and is a special place to many of us. there's no other place like this and that's why we all love this place so much. and that's why i go back
there even if it may not be so close to where i live anymore.
geez, i can go on forever talking about our studio!!
更にはスケッチしたり、竹で茶道で使う茶さじを作ったり、フェルトメーキング、ベーコン作り、炭火で秋刀魚を焼いたり、とにかくこの場所は楽しい事ばかりで皆にとって、とても特別な場所です。ここにしかない場所だから皆が大好きな場所なんです。だからたとえちょっと遠くなってもまた行きたくなっちゃうんです。
いやぁ~~ここの教室の話は尽きる事がありませんね!
