amazake bread???? 甘酒パン???

one of the things i like cooking with, is "amazake" (sweet drink made from sake lees). not just for drinking, i keep some in my freezer for cooking and baking. last time, i had used some like this and this time, i'd wanted to use it for some baking - "amazake cookies."
お料理に使うのが好きな食材の一つに「甘酒」があります。飲む用にだけではなく、お料理にも使えるように冷凍庫に常備しています。前回はこんな感じで料理に使ったので、今回はこれでお菓子でも!と思い、「甘酒クッキー」を作ってみることにしてみました。
i needed a good recipe but since i couldn't really find one, i had to adjust and try along the way. and because of that, what initially started as a cookie, ended up being something totally different!! every time i added small amounts of ingredients, i had to knead and so i had kneaded too much that it turned into bread. yes, come to think of it, i should have known. but i have to tell you, it never occured to me and so i was totally kneaded away!! (it was my first time to bake cookies you know!)
そこで、良いレシピが必要になってくるのですが、なかなか思うようなのが見つからず、作りながら少しずつ調整して行くことに。しかし、そのせいで、元々はクッキーとして作り始めたものは、最終的には全く違うものに>O<実は材料を少しずつ足して行く度に、生地をこね合わせていたので、こねくりまくり過ぎて「パン」になっちゃいました!!そうなんです、良く考えたらそんなのわかるはずなのに。でも全くそんな事過ぎるどころか、何の疑いもなく元気に一生懸命こねまくり!! (だってクッキー作るの初めてだったんだもん!)
oh no~~!! after all my hard work of trying to bake something for my hubby to bring to work, i now have an unfamiliar tasting small pieces of sweet bread, and no cookie!! (sob, sob) きゃぁ~~!!せっかくmy hubbyに会社に持って行ってもらおうと思ったのに、クッキーじゃなくて得体の知れない小さな甘いパンが出来ちゃった!(ToT)
but you know, they tasted okay if you don't think of them as cookies, so i tried making them again, with the same recipe but with minimum kneading. and this is what i'd got.
tada~~!!
でもね、クッキーだと思わなければなかなかイケてたんですよ。だから同じ分量でコネコネを最小限にして再度チャレンジ!!そしてこんな感じに仕上がりました。
じゃぁ~~~ん!!
*long plate = my previous work*以前焼いた長皿です。i took a bite of it.....and.......yes!! i did it!! so this is what you call a cookie!! yeah~~~!! good job caoricci!! but wait!! because i had to reduce the amount of amazake a little, the subtle flavor of amazake i had with my small bread, had been gone with my cookies. great!! the sweetness and texture was just perfect and i thought i now had a good amazake cookie recipe, but i guess i still need a few more adjustments to make. sigh~
一口食べてみると・・・おお!!やりました!!これこそ世に言うクッキーよ!!やったぁ~~!!caoricciよ、良くやった!!あ、でもちょっと待って!甘酒の分量を少し減らさなきゃいけなかったから、小さいパンの時にほのかに香っていた甘酒の香りが、こっちでは全然なくなってしまったじゃない!やられたぁ~!甘さも食感も良い感じだったから甘酒クッキーのレシピ完成かと思ったら、まだ少し調整しないといけません。はぁ~
alongside my amazake cookie baking quest, i'm also working on my herb thin recipe with the pasta maker i'd recently bought, and so my kitchen has been very floury the past several days. (and i'm consuming so much flour!!) once i can get them right, i hope to post the recipes here in the near future.... i hope...!!
甘酒クッキー作りと平行して、先日購入したパスタメーカーでのうっす~~いハーブクラッカー作りも試しているので、ここ数日、我が家のキッチンはかなり粉っぽいです^^;(そして小麦粉の大量消費!)最終的にちゃんとしたレシピにまとめられたらこちらでもアップしたいと思いまぁす~。
anyway, here's the lesson for today: never knead your cookie dough too much or else you'll end up with a bread!!
anyway, 今回の教訓です:クッキーの生地はこねくり過ぎると「パン」になってしまします!(笑)
